Summer Skincare Essentials. Gosh, it seems like no time ago that summer seemed miles away and now it is only round the corner!
To this end, I thought it was time that we started to talk about the summer skincare ‘essential’ products that are needed to keep your skin healthy and nourished without leaving it exposed for sun damage and harm.
I spent a few months this year in Florida and with temperatures reaching 30 degrees in the winter months I became very aware of my skin and the products I needed to use to keep it in tip-top condition. We have all seen the scary images of the UV camera highlighting the invisible damage caused by exposure to sun and its harmful rays.

I suppose I have always thought nothing of it until I turned 36. Now I know that was a couple of years ago but I have to be honest that up until then I thought that a swipe of Aveeno over my face was giving my skin all the nutrients it needed.
Anyway I digress, after the months I spent travelling I have become religious in applying SPF (sun protection factor) to my skin to protect it from these harmful rays
Olay Total Effects
With an SPF of 30 this anti-ageing moisturiser comes in a 50ml bottle with a pump on top.
Olay Total Effects Anti-ageing Moisturiser is readily available to be picked up at
Superdrug or
Boots. It has a pump on top to dispense the product. The moisturiser itself is of a creamy consistency. It absorbs quickly into the skin and lives up to its claim of being ‘non-greasy’. It doesn’t have much of a smell which is good. I would recommend starting with half a pump to see how far it goes.
Olay Total Effects give you 7 skin benefits in one.
1 Visibly smooths fine lines and wrinkles
2 Helps skin to maintain its moisture
3 Even skin tone appearance
4 Minimises the look of pores
5 Smooths and evens out skin texture
6 Enhances brightness
7 Hydrates to restore firmer skin appearance
It also contains SPF, and with the 7 skin benefits also acts as a primer on the skin under makeup which I think is amazing. It’s also packed with vitamin B3 (niacinamide), vitamin C and vitamin E. My skin definitely feels firmer and my skin tone looks more even through using this product.
Olay also has a money back guarantee if their Total Effects products don’t work which is extremely reassuring and shows the confidence they hold in this product.
I would give this product an 8/10 and would definitely rebuy this.
Rosalique 3-1
I had honestly never heard of this brand before so I was extremely curious to try it out.
The cream itself is a vivid green colour which looks terrifying at first but it massages onto the skin turning into a beautiful sunkissed colour. It smells delightful as well. My favourite blogger
Scarlett London is also a huge fan (I’ve also written a review of her book
‘Tummy Tied’ by Scarlett London)
Rosalique 3-1 Anti Redness Moisturiser is designed to conceal instantly, treat gently and protect long term. Now I do not suffer from rosacea, keratosis pilaris or couperose but this moisturiser is suitable for those who do. It is suitable for those with sensitive skin as it is packed with anti-redness and anti-inflammatory ingredients. It also contains pro-vitamin b5 and shea butter to create outstanding results.
I am giving this a stunning 10/10 as it ticks all the boxes for me. I have already repurchased and it is my new travel staple as well.
Tan Cream
Tan cream comes in a generous 100ml bottle. It has an SPF factor of 50 which is amazing. The formula itself is tinted so you have a guide colour for application. It smells fresh and doesn’t have the usual nasty tanning smell. Tan cream can be used as a gradual self-tanner while providing high protection against the suns harmful UV rays.
Tancream develops gradually over 3-4 hours and wears off evenly over 3-4 days. It is streak free and evens out skin tone as well as disguising sun spots, blemishes and age spots. It is also a combined CC cream and instant bronzer. I adored how nourishing it was on my skin. The formula developed into a lovely bronze over a couple of hours and wore off naturally.
