As you may know I suffer from fibromyalgia. I’ve been diagnosed for the past 5 years and it has a huge impact on my day to day life. Along side the fibromyalgia I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome as well as anxiety and depression.
I take a daily cocktail of medication which has been chopped and changed over the years to provide me with the most relief from my symptoms as possible. It’s horrible taking 13 different tablets daily but it’s become part of my life as much as brushing my teeth.
I have always been interested in alternative therapies and when Keri asked me to try a session of kinesiology I jumped at the chance to try a more holistic approach to tackling the daily struggles of my chronic illness.
I literally only took an open mind and this is the only thing that Keri recommends you bring. She works from her home and makes you feel welcome and peaceful from the moment you arrive.
Keri starts by asking for a little background / history.
She is very good at listening and extremely easy to open up to. Once she has gained an insight into the issues you are having she invites you up onto her bed.
15 Wheel Muscle Balance
Keri then carries out her 15 wheel muscle balance to find out which areas of the body are out of balance. From this initial testing she can then determine if the problem is emotional, physical, mental, chemical or structure.
Again she can then pin point how she will treat the issue. Keri is also able to pinpoint food sensitivities as well. She can also help to deal with stress and feminine health issues.
So for me this is how the session progressed.
I am 37 and have suffered fibromyalgia for the past 6 years. I also have anxiety, depression and IBS as well as an underactive thyroid. I suffer from chronic pain and fatigue on a daily basis as well as other symptoms such as brain fog, excessive sweating, anxiety and nausea.
Keri got me to lay on her couch.
She began by asking me to provide resistance against her in various positions using my arms and legs. This is the initial 15 wheel muscle balance. She was able to find weakness in my muscles relating to my stomach, small intestine, gall bladder, liver and brain.
Subsequently She then used my body to guide her in treating each of these issues to see what the problem with each of these areas were.
Keri was able to use my muscle reactions to guide me towards two different kinds of Bach flower remedy – Mimulus & Oak.
She advised me to purchase these from a reputable health store which I did. I’ve linked them here!
Keri also provided massage, manipulation and tapping techniques to relieve and treat the issues my body had highlighted to her.
I have been clenching my teeth and jaw for a while and she was able to work this area using massage and pinching. None of the work Keri carried out on my body caused me to be uncomfortable or in any pain.
I came away from the session feeling relaxed, refreshed and tired. I slept well that night.
2 days post session.
Since then i have slept better – in fact i slept all through the night last night.
My pain is more concentrated. Instead of all over pain I am now able to deal with my pain better.
My IBS has settled down and i am not bloated. I have been a little thirstier than normal but i have just increased my fluid intake.
I also feel extremely relaxed and chilled out.
One week post session
I have been sleeping! I find it easier to wind down and get better quality sleep each night. I have also had better mobility with my chronic pain concentrated to specific areas and not all over.
My mood has significantly improved and I am much more focused and upbeat. I have also been taking the 2 bach flower remedies (Mimulus & Oak) daily as needed.
I feel so much better within myself and while I feel I still have a long road ahead I am in a better mindset to tackler each day as it comes.
So would I go back?
Yes! Absolutely I cannot wait to have my next session! Keri recommends 3 sessions within a 10 week period and then as necessary after that.
