Oxygen Blast Facial at Elizabeth Arden.
Debenhams Beauty Club
Anyway I had signed myself up to the Debenhams Beauty Club (its free) and was looking forward to reaping the rewards. They offer a reward system which gives you points back for spending instore or online along with monthly samples, birthday treats and free delivery.
I had gathered up around £50 worth of points and was looking at splurging on some nice little extravagances for my birthday when I received an email from Debenhams.
So in this email I was offered a free Elizabeth Arden Oxygen Blast facial (worth £15) and a free Benefit Brow Wax (worth £14.50)
Sign me up I hear you say!
So off I went and made an appointment at my local Elizabeth Arden Counter. They had loads of availability and are available at Belfast and Newry (for those of you in Northern Ireland) or Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Newbridge (for those of you in the South).
I just love how elegant the counter looks, don’t you? My consultant, Paula, was amazing and welcomed me with such a friendly face – even though it was a dull, grey, rainy day outside.
I arrived with only seconds to spare and a little flustered! We filled in a little consultation card while I caught my breath and she waited patiently for me to begin to relax before starting any treatment.
We discussed my skin type and what my current skincare regime was. She also asked me what I hoped to achieve from the treatment today and to be honest that kind of threw me a little as I had no expectations apart from trying to keep my skin in good condition and a little birthday treat to me lol.
She then began by cleansing and toning my face. She used the Elizabeth Arden ‘ceramide’ cleanser and toner (both priced at £25 each).
They contain peach and help to calm and cleanse skin while dissolving make up and impurities. I loved how clean these made my skin feel without that tightness you can get from some cleansers.
It was not too heavy either and I actually really loved these products. I don’t think I would spend that much though on them but I do realise that there is so much benefit to using specifically targeted products on your skin so maybe in the future, but again I am lazy and I currently use an all-in-one face wash.
Paula then explained what the treatment would be and the benefits that it would have to my skin. I loved how much she put me at ease and made me feel relaxed.
She was going to use a small air gun to blast a refreshing mist made up of oxygen and hyaluronic acid. The oxygen spray revives skin and cools it while the hyaluronic acid improves plumpness and helps the skin to retain collagen thus being anti-ageing.
This treatment can be done over makeup if required and there is no downtime as is with many facials where skin should be kept makeup free for 8-12 hours.
The difference was immediate and I felt refreshed and my skin looked glowy and supple straight away. After the mist went on, my skin was then dried off using the airgun.
There was no heaviness, stickiness or in fact any nasty after effects to this facial. Paula then applied some skincare to my face to help promote the effects of the facial.
She firstly used an Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsule (£39 for 30 capsules) and gently massaged it over my face. This is a smooth serum that is infused with botanicals and comes in a neatly packaged capsule so each one is kept fresh ready for use.
This will reduce the effects of ageing and help to firm and smooth the skin. I was advised that this would be a perfect night time treat for my skin and it could work its magic during the night.
After this Paula applied Elizabeth Arden SUPERSTART Skin Renew Booster (£45 for 30mls) which helps your skin to renew itself. The beauty of this product is that it is compatible with all skin types and can be used under any moisturiser.
I have a scar on my face from an accident years ago. Therefore anything that can help to renew my skin is magic in my opinion.
Paula finished off my treatment by applying Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Moisture Cream (£40 for 50mls) This cream was quite heavy on my face. I think it was because I am not used to layering up skincare and it was simply too much for me.
Paula has generously given me some lovely jumbo sized samples to try out so I will use them and see if I still feel that the cream is too heavy for me. I did like how rich and non-sticky it was so its worth a shot.
After the Facial
I love how dewy my face looks after the treatment and to be honest I felt a million dollars afterwards. It was like 4/5 good night sleep in a row which is the stuff of dreams for me these days!!
At no time during or after the treatment was there any pressure for me to buy anything that Paula used. I had £50 accumulated of Beauty Club points so I purchased the capsules and the SUPERSTART serum.
I was lucky enough as well that there was money off both so I only had to part with £19 in the end. Go Me!!
I don’t currently have a skincare routine at night and had been using my day cream. It made sense for me to try the capsules for a month and see if I notice the benefits. Also I liked the fact that the serum can be used with any other skincare. This means if I decided to use another brand then there still should be great things happening.
I suppose only time will tell. However I am not convinced that I can knock 20 years off my face.
I also received a free gift as I had made two purchases. In there was a full 8-hour lip protectant (£20 retail price). I am so excited to try. I have heard amazing things about the 8-hour range from Elizabeth Arden.
There was also a travel friendly sized serum, nude lipstick and mascara. The gift came packaged in a lovely summery bag.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend this treatment. Even today which is 24 hours later my skin feels nourished, supple and still has that ‘glowy’ look to it.
Well done Debenhams and thank you so much for my birthday treat 🙂
