Juicing myself healthier – Skinny Malinkys

Juicing myself healthier – Skinny Malinkys

I’m not quite sure where to start this post. For the past few years I have suffered from irritable bowel syndrome as part of the fibromyalgia.

Chronic complaints

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) can cause abdominal pain alongside either diarrhoea or constipation (or both!) It affects my sleep, anxiety levels and obviously causes me to have to spend more time than I would want near to a bathroom.

As with the fibromyalgia I have tried all the pills and doctor/medical professional recommended routes of treatment. I must admit to having a degree of control over how it affects me and my life but then again it can hit like a tonne of bricks and I’m floored again.

Alternatives

So I’ve been researching alternative treatments. I try to be careful with my diet and I know certain food trigger a flare. So I decided to carry out a juice cleanse to clean out my colon and hopefully ease some of the horrific bloating I have had of late. I am convinced the heat is setting it off! 🙈

Anyway I wanted to use a local company to provide ready made convenient juices that I did not have to put much thought into and could just grab and go!

Skinny Malinkys

I came across Skinny Malinkys and after a quick read of the site and an email to the lovely Paula, I decided to purchase the 3 day juice to dinner cleanse.

Basically you have 4 juices, a herbal tea and a healthy dinner each day for three days.

This is the perfect option for me as I don’t eat much during the day and like a good meal at night.

The juices come in four flavours. Lean green, di-gets-tiv, carrot and beetroot.

All the juices have 2 of your 5 a day which is great! They also have a high vegetable content and are all natural.

The juices are not sweet. They do have an earthy flavour to them which can take a little getting used to but on the whole they are pleasant tasting and sit well in my stomach. Ensure to shake before use as contents can settle.

The colour of the juice is vibrant and very appealing.

Did they work?

The first night I made a simple meal of champ, chicken and carrots.  Very tasty and very filling.

I went to bed feeling full and slept quite well.

The second and third day I can honesty say I found to be no problem at all. The juices left me feeling full and nourished and I felt no bloating at all. I actually felt, dare I say it, normal? I drank around 2litres of water a day alongside the juices to help with keeping me well hydrated.

All in all the juices were a great way to cleanse. I felt great afterwards and had actually lost 8lbs which was pleasant side effect. I continued to feel the effects of the cleanse for the next few weeks which was so nice.

Would I recommend?

I would definitely recommend the juices in preparation for an event, holiday or even to kick start a healthy eating plan. I did find them pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for and knowing that I was getting good quality ingredients sold it for me.
